Music in 2007
So, it seems I've acquired a whole bunch of cds released last year. 27, in fact. So, instead of doing like a top 10 thing like I'd thought of doing I'm going to (quite late) just post what I got, and my thoughts, listed alphabetically, because alphabetical is the rockingest order.
Tori Amos - American Doll Posse
Very close to being my new favorite Tori album. Very cool conept, with Tori taking on five seperate personalities throughout the album. Very varied musically, with some very classic-Tori stuff, with a couple really rocking tracks thrown in.

Big Wheel
Body and Soul (live version) (Easily my favorite song on this album, so I had to find *some* video of it)
Bjork - Volta
A new Bjork album. Yep, she's still Bjork. Cool stuff, as always.
Related videos:
Declare Independance
Blonde Redhead - 23
A decent album. Didn't really grab me the way their previous album, Misery Is a Butterfly, did. Still, excellent title.

Melora Creager - Perplexions EP
The frst solo album from Rasputina's frontwoman. Interesting little diversions. Warbots is a really neat track.
No videos I can find. :(
The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - The Shadow Out of Tim
NEW THICKETS! YAY! The best damn album of the entire year. Mostly based on a retelling of H. P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow Out of Time", starring a new character, marine biologist Timothy Vess. Fun Lovecraftian stuff, from the only band that includes a glossary with their lyrics sheet. Besides the Lovecraftiness, this is just a damn good rock album. Hooray for the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets.

A Marine Biologist (demo)
Feist - The Reminder
A pretty cool album by a Canadian singer/songwriter. I'm not too terribly into it, but there are a few really good tracks. Plus, her videos are fantastic.
Related videos:
My Moon My Man
I Feel It All
1 2 3 4
Gogol Bordello - Super Taranta
Really cool "Gypsy punk" (as the band call it). One of the most fun albums I've heard in quite some time.
Related videos:
Wonderlust King
Interpol - Our Love To Admire
Pretty much more of the same from Interpol. Didn't really do much for me.
Related videos:
No I in Threesome
Juliette and the Licks - Four on the Floor
I never knew Juliette Lewis rocked this hard. As it turns out, she does. Awesome. I think I like her better as a rock singer than I liked her as an actress. And I thought she as a pretty good actress, too.
Related videos:
Hot Kiss
Sticky Honey
Justice - Cross
Neat little electronica/dance album. Not something I see myself listening to frequently, but still cool.
Related videos:
D.A.N.C.E.
Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future
Really fun stuff. Odd mix of rock and electronica, with a lot of science fiction references (and, in one track, a fuckton of Crowley references). Strange, fun, album.
Related videos:
Magik
Gravity's Rainbow
Golden Scans
Atlantis To Interzone
KMFDM - Tohuvabohu
Another really great KMFDM album. I'm beginning to really love the band's current lineup. Not quite as good as Hau Ruck, but close.
There are no videos, but apparently some people on YouTube have posted most of the songs with a still image as "videos". I shan't post any, but the songs are well worth looking up.
Storm Large - Ladylike Side One
Very good album. My only complaint is that there's not enough of it. Too damn short. Still, great stuff.
Related videos:
Beautiful (an older version of the song, live)
Ladylike (again, live)
MC Frontalot - Secrets from the Future
Nerdcore rap. 'nuff said?
Related videos:
It Is Pitch Dark
Bizarro Genius Baby
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult - The Filthiest Show in Town
Sadly, kinda bland. Tries very hard to live up to its title, but just doesn't reach the level of previous TKK albums.
Related videos:
TV Sista (remix)
Noisettes - What's the Time Mr. Wolf?
A seriously great rock album. Not much more to said about it.
Related videos:
Don't Give Up
Scratch Your Name
Sister Rosetta
Count of Monte Cristo
Pipettes - We Are the Pipettes
An oddly charming pop album. Reminiscent of old girl-bands.
Related videos:
Pull Shapes
Because It's Not Love (But It's Still a Feeling)
Placebo - Meds
A new Placebo album. Yep. Cool stuff. Mainly, I just love the title track, but the rest is also pretty cool.
Related videos:
Meds
Polysics - Karate House
It's amazing to thik of how far Polysics have progressed, musically. Originally just very noisy and DEVO-derivative, they're now pretty damn tight. I love this album.
Related videos:
Catch On Everywhere
ハードロックサンダー (HARD ROCK THUNDER)
Electric Surfin' Go Go
Rasputina - Oh Perilous World
Very interesting concept album, telling a story I'm not certain I understand. One of Rasputina's most impressive efforts to date.
Related videos:
1816, the Year without a Summer
Rilo Kiley - Under the Blacklight
Didn't do much for me. *shrug*
Siouxsie - Mantaray
Siouxsie Sioux's first solo album, after around 30 years in the music industry. Pretty damn good, actually.
Related videos:
Into a Swan
Tegan and Sara - If It Was You
Really fun album. Far more rocking than I'd expected.
I found no videos. :(
They Might Be Giants - The Else
A few really excellent tracks surrounded by a few unremarkable tracks. Like TMBG's last few albums. The excellent tracks (The Mesopotamians, The Cap'm, Climbing the Walls, and Smothered Hope stick in my head the most) make the rest well worth it, though.
Related videos:
The Mesopotamians
I'm Impressed
With the Dark
Velcra - Hadal
Really cool Finnish industrial band. They've calmed down quite a bit on this album. More "haunting melody" than "loud noises and screaming". While I normally prefer the screaming, I must admit Jessi Frey has a really nice voice when she actually sings. Plus, the album finishes with the supremely cathartic "Quick and Dirty"
Related videos:
Quick and Dirty
Dusk Becomes a Dawn
Warp 11 - It's Dead Jim
Trek Rock. Awesome.
Related videos:
Tribbles and Ecstacy (live)
White Stripes - Icky Thump
I waited a long time before getting this one. I don't know why. It rocks. Especially "Rag and Bone".
